Quick Weight Loss Tips – Tip # 1

Have a Strong Reason Why You Want to Lose Weight!

“Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.” ~ Jim Rohn

Many people want to lose weight and will go through all lengths to do so, and yet, sad to say, the majority fail to keep the kilos off. Yes, they may lose a few kilos initially, but in no time, it’s back to what it was before.

Our advice: Focus on the “why” first before you jump into the “how”.

If you desire long-term results – being able to lose those kilos and keep them off for good, you need to first establish your motivation for wanting to lose weight. This is the fuel to get you to your desired weight. Without strong and clearly defined “why’s”, the “how’s” are just a waste of your time and energy.

Why do you want to lose weight?

Here are 2 main categories of motivating factors:

1. Negative Health Consequences. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, with more than 1 billion overweight adults, with at least 300 million of them clinically obese - and is a major contributor to the global burden of chronic disease and disability. An estimated 22 million children under five are estimated to be overweight worldwide.

Overweight and obesity lead to many health problems like hypertension, type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, cancers of the endometrium, breast, prostate and colon. Other non-fatal, but debilitating health problems associated with obesity include respiratory difficulties and sleep apnea, chronic musculoskeletal problems, skin problems and infertility.

2. Negative Psychological Outcomes. Many overweight and obese people suffer from poor body image and low self-esteem, especially if they have been obese as a child. Teasing and name-calling by their peers, being ostracized and unable to participate in many physical activities – these can all lead to low self-esteem and eating disorders like bulimia and aneroxia nervosa.

You may have your own reason – you are planning to get married, you want to project the right image at work, and so on. Whatever your reason, you have to make it so strong and so clear that nothing will stop you from achieving your goal.

We would recommend you to work with a weight loss coach who can guide you in this area and subsequently will be able to recommend the best and safest weight loss plan for you.
